ROOTED (ƒ)
5–6 December 2026
Casalinga Farm, Johannesburg
For two days every December, UManyano Lwe Jazz transforms into a gathering of music lovers, artists, cultural workers, travellers, adult families, creatives and communities from across Southern Africa and the diaspora.
More than a music festival, ULJ is a celebration of culture, connection and discovery.
For the love of jazz, community, and the culture.

the Music
Across multiple stages and experiences, audiences encounter some of the most exciting artists working across contemporary African jazz, alternative music, diasporic sound, soul and folk traditions, and spiritual improvisation.
From emerging voices to globally celebrated artists, every edition brings together musicians who are pushing culture forward while remaining deeply rooted in tradition and live performance.

The Experience
ULJ is intentionally designed as a boutique festival experience. Expect beautiful outdoor festival grounds, world-class sound and production, carefully curated food experiences, comfortable seating, artisan markets, conversations, cultural exchange, and community and connection
While the festival continues to grow, we remain committed to preserving the intimacy and warmth that define the ULJ experience.

The Setting
Set against the rolling landscapes of Casalinga Farm, ULJ offers a rare opportunity to experience live music in one of Gauteng's most beautiful outdoor environments.
Less rush.
More presence and connection.
A weekend designed to be experienced, not simply attended.
